3 carowinds ticket promotions you don't want to miss | Columbia SC Moms BlogI love the Capital City and all it has to offer, but sometimes you just want a change of scenery – something new and exciting to do with your family – and a quick day trip is one of the best ways to remedy the situation.

As the mom to a busy 5-year-old, I’m always on the lookout for fun and exciting things to do in the Carolinas. And most recently, one of our favorite things to do is go to Carowinds. My son is now at the age where he can enjoy a lot of the rides and take advantage of the other fun activities and attractions the park has to offer.

We are in our second year as season pass holders, and absolutely love it. With a drive time of a little over an hour, we can easily make our way up north and enjoy a day of fun. And currently Carowinds has three ticket specials allowing you to experience all the park has to offer without taking a hard hit on your wallet.

1. Discount Season Pass Offers

I know what you may be thinking. “A season pass? Will I really use it that much? What if we only go a few times?” Truthfully, investing in a Gold Season Pass pays for itself in two visits. Plus it includes added bonuses like free parking, free admission to Dinosaurs Alive!, SCarowinds and the all-new WinterFest.

You can also enjoy their fun-filled waterpark, Carolina Harbor, as well as fun events for kids like their most recent Easter Eggstravaganza where guests had a chance to have their photo taken with Eggward and Snoopy, and participate in eggstra-special activities, crafts and entertainment. Truly, it can be a unique experience each time you go and well worth the investment.

Purchase before May 31, and pay only six payments of $17 for a 2017 Gold Season Pass.

2. Free Admission on Military Days

Memorial weekend is quickly approaching, and so are Military Days at Carowinds. May 28-29 all active, inactive or retired United States Service men and women get FREE admission to the park with a valid military I.D. It’s a great time to check out all the park has to offer, and consider if becoming a season pass holder is right for your family (I’m thinking the answer is yes).

Keep in mind, weekends and free admission days can often draw a large crowd. Be prepared for longer lines, or consider upgrading to a Fast Lane pass for the day which allows you to bypass the regular lines on some of your favorite rides and attractions. It can be kind of pricey depending on your budget, but it’s also nice not to spend hours waiting in line during your visit.

3. Kids Price Admission Available on All Tickets Purchased Online

Scream like a kid again and pay like one, too! Save $21 per ticket off the front gate price of $65 when you purchase tickets online through June 18, 2017.

And just because you have a little one in tow doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the attractions. While I spend a lot of my visit with my 5-year-old son in Snoopy Land, many of the rides in this area are adult-friendly and fun too (here’s looking at you Woodstock Express)! Plus they recently opened their new County Fair which offers a blast from the past with the classic rides from our youth – many of these are family-friendly and we had a great time riding these together!

Summer is quickly approaching, and it’s definitely time to make your summer plans. Take advantage of these savings and add more variety to your family outings now through the fall.

Tiffany Nettles
Tiffany traded in back-to-back business meetings and PowerPoint presentations, for sippy cups and play dates – leaving her corporate job behind to become a stay at home mom to her 16-month-old toddler. To say life is different is an understatement, and she now has a new found love and respect for the “hardest” (and best!) job she’s ever had. A native South Carolinian, Tiffany is best described as kind-hearted and friendly, with a quick sense of humor. When she’s not toting her little one around town to the latest kid friendly activity, you can find her enjoying a latte at Drip, catching up on the latest celebrity gossip magazines, or watching old reruns of Beverly Hills 90210 from the early 90′s. She received her Masters Degree in Integrated Communications from the University of South Carolina in 2007, and enjoys reading, writing and all things "mom."
