Comfort Buddie :: A Must-Have for Your Infant or Toddler {Giveaway}

0

Over the last few weeks, I had the pleasure of trying out a wonderful new product called Comfort Buddie. Comfort Buddie is a heating and cooling pad, specifically designed for infants and toddlers. Made from 100% pure cotton, Comfort Buddie is Oeko-Tex certified; this means that there are absolutely no harmful chemicals used when producing this product!

My experience has been amazing, and our family definitely enjoyed using it every chance we got. It was perfect and convenient for outings to the park, beach, a quick stroller ride around the neighborhood, or to help our infant daughter sleep comfortably at naps or bedtime without mom or dad.

Love how easy the Comfort Buddie folds up!

Developed by a Mom for Moms Everywhere

Comfort Buddie was developed by a mom after her son became ill on vacation and she tried everything she knew to try to bring his temperature down with no success. Eventually they went to the hospital, but did not receive much helpful direction. She searched the local stores for something to lay her child on would help cool his body, but found nothing. Internet searches brought the same negative results. After talking with her mom (you’re never too old to need your mom’s advice!), the idea of Comfort Buddies was born.

I LOVE the fact that this was developed out of a real mom’s experience, AND from someone in the Palmetto state!

Benefits

  • Helps reduce fever
  • Heating feature helps sooth baby, especially when it’s time for sleep
  • Fits easily in your diaper bag, allowing you to easily help your baby be comfortable temperature-wise no matter where you go (think a cool lounger on hot days in the park or a extra layer of warmth during colder weather)
  • Comfortable and soft — there’s a reason it’s called “Comfort” Buddie! The material feels great and is plush. Your child will ENJOY resting on this.
  • Weighted feel of the blanket is especially helpful in calming children who are autistic

How to Activate the Heating and Cooling Benefits (it’s so easy!)

Heating

If your home gets chilly throughout certain times of the day (early morning or late evening), then the heating pad is a perfect solution for you. The heating feature is activated by microwaving the insert for 2-3 minutes, and then placing it inside of the protective cover which is made of 100% cotton.

Cooling

If you have a warm-natured baby like my little one, then the cooling pad is a great solutions. To cool the pad (which is filled with flax seeds), place the insert in the freezer. When ready, remove from the freezer and place in the insert, which helps cool your child without being too cold to the touch. I loved the way it was able to help bring my baby’s temperature down without resorting to measures like a cold bath (who likes that?), and it’s been perfect on the warmer days when our family wants to spend time outdoors but it’s just TOO. DARN. HOT. (Not anymore!)

My Experience — Why I LOVED Comfort Buddie

With the weather fluctuating the last several weeks, this product has been AMAZING! We typically co-sleep with our 6 month old daughter, but on the nights where the weather was cooler, and we opted to put her in her crib. I was able to easily transition her to her own bed by heating the Comfort Buddie and placing her on top of it in her crib. The heat the Comfort Buddie provided was similar to body heat, and my daughter slept happily in her crib.

Not only did she sleep longer with Comfort Buddie, but naps and bedtime went so much smoother. Being able to lay her down on a warm surface was comforting, instead of placing her on a cold bed sheet. She slept equally as well on the Comfort Buddie as she did in the bed with us, which helped transition from co-sleeping to crib sleeping so much easier on us.

Because our Comfort Buddie has become such a staple, it travels everywhere with us (I actually make a point to grab it along with the diaper bag). During warmer weather, it was great to bring along to the park for her to chill out on while our other kids played (she never gets gets overheated). For car trips I was also able to put it on top of her as a blanket during colder weather (placing it on top of her as an extra layer so it didn’t interfere with the function of the car seat). The best part is when heated, we were able to get use for about 2.5 hours while out, and just a little over 3 hours while she was in her crib.

Other Uses I Discovered (that aren’t advertised)

  • Strollers – We don’t use a stroller that often, but when we do, we simply placed the Comfort Buddie in the stroller and allowed her to lay on it. Viola! Instant comfort and happiness.
  • Older Children – Even though Comfort Buddie is marketed for infants and toddlers, it was a wonderful product that all of my children (5 total) have been able to equally enjoy. Heck, I wouldn’t mind an adult sized version for myself!
  • Autistic Children – I know I listed the benefit to autistic children earlier, but I wanted to elaborate on my experience since my son is autistic. The Comfort Buddie helped ease his anxiety. The weighted feel of the blanket provided a “deep touch” that allowed him to calm down when draped across his lap. Because the product has been so beneficial for my infant daughter and son, I am considering getting an additional Comfort Buddie so both of my children can have one.

How to Get Your Own

I can’t say enough good things about this product! Comfort Buddie is available for purchase on the Comfort Buddie website. It comes in a variety of prints (giraffes, race cars and birds) and colors (green, yellow, purple, blue, pink), so don’t worry about whether or not there will be one available to suit your color preference. (I do have to add that the “Birdcage” print is my absolute favorite!) This year Comfort Buddie will also be exhibiting at the Upstate Family and Baby Expo in Greenville, so it will be a great opportunity to meet the owner and ask any questions you have about the product. For Autism Awareness Month, Comfort Buddie will also be an Autism print buddie, with a percentage of the proceeds being donated.

Natasha Brown never saw herself as a stay-at-home mom, and definitely would not be described by anyone in her inner circle as being a crunchy mom. After ten years of working for other people, she decided it was time to back away from the workforce and spread her “crunchy mama” spirit around. Now she is proudly a baby wearing, meal-planning, cloth diapering, EBF’ing, homeschooling mama who spends her spare time DIY’ing everything in their home running her local children’s art studio. And when she is not is not busy being supermom and an awesome wife you can find her on the couch getting some much needed sleep.
