As busy moms, we often don’t take time for ourselves. But moms, just like everyone else, need time to unwind and recharge … and I especially felt this way after a long week of standardized testing for the students in my classroom. That’s why I was especially excited about the opportunity to try Chi Esthetics Studio for a makeover and some much needed pampering!

CeeCee Sheppard, the owner and artist, is trained and certified in Advanced Facials and Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion, LED therapy, Pre and Post Op care, Aromatherapy, Body Treatments, Hawaiian and Hungarian Facial Massage, Lash Extension Artistry, Makeup Artistry, and Sugaring Hair Removal.
Her approach to skincare starts with assisting clients make choices about nutrition as her motto is “healthy skin starts within.” Through treatments, products, diet and supplements her goal is for you to “LOVE the skin you’re in” … and I definitely felt this way after my facial treatment, spray tan and makeup application!
My Experience
When I first walked in, I was asked to silence my cell phone and use a “spa voice.” This was my first clue that my experience at Chi Esthetics Studio was going to be a step into a separate space, another reality — one that I really needed.
Personalized Skin Consultation
CeeCee sat down with me and discussed in great detail my skin type, the challenges and my care routine. It felt very much like an in depth doctor’s visit — well if doctors had the time to spend thirty minutes discussing your care with you. Love my doc, but he just doesn’t have that kind of time.
Facial Treatment
Then the fun began … soft music, muted lights, a comfy setting … I was worried I would fall asleep and start snoring any minute. Believe you me, I needed some relaxing after six days of standardized testing with my fifth graders.
She cleansed and massaged and moisturized and LED’ed and exfoliated and probably a half dozen other things to my skin. (It gets kind of fuzzy, remember I was trying not to snore.) It was wonderful and my skin really did feel great!
Spray Tan
As a first timer, I was a little worried about this part, but it turned out beautifully. I would definitely do this again for a special occasion. It was quick and provided no worries about long-term skin damage that this recovering tanning bed fan has to think about. Don’t be shy though. It is a bit, well, exposing. CeeCee, however, was the consummate professional and did everything to complete this quickly and efficiently. And voila, I was sun-kissed!
Makeup Application
We scheduled my makeup application for later in the week — that Saturday morning before my husband returned from a business trip and we had a party to attend that night. I felt so glamorous!
I have to admit, I am not much of a makeup person, but I may be now. I could really tell the difference. My skin looked great and my make-up was, in a word from days gone by, fierce. I even looked great ten hours later when I got ready for the party. I posted a picture on Facebook and people used words like “stunning’ and “gorgeous.” It was very gratifying. I’m still humming, “I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty.”

This one statement describing the studio really does explain what the experience was all about. Maybe this is what made it so unique. I never once felt like it was all about vanity. My makeover and spray tan and time in the studio did not make me feel like I was trying to belong to the beautiful club. It made me feel like I was a long time member. This was definitely due to the professional care from CeeCee Sheppard.

As busy moms, we often do not take the time to take care of ourselves. That needs to change. The time I spent at Chi Esthetics Studio was well worth it. It provided a much needed mental pick-me-up, and after just one visit, people told they can tell the difference.
So take the time to plan something just for you … a mental recharge that will make you feel good about yourself. For me, I think it might be a monthly visit to CeeCee in her version of Paris!
I am really looking forward to regular visits in the future to see how my skin changes with a little more care and attention.
