Details: Get your cameras ready for a special visitor from the North Pole! During the week before Christmas, Santa will make several visits to the State Museum from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily. Guests will also get to choose their own magical Santa setting for a family picture! Location: The parade will begin at Gervais and Bull Streets and proceed west on Gervais. It will pass in front of the State House and end in the Vista on Park Street.

Details: The 63rd Annual Carolina Carillion Holiday Parade will feature famously festive entries from all across the state of South Carolina! Entertainment will be provided by local churches, marching bands, drill teams, local celebrities, decorative floats, and Santa Claus will be there all the way from the North Pole.

Details: Experience Columbia’s longest running holiday tradition—the 29th annual Lights Before Christmas at Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. Details: Saluda Shoals Park will come alive in a blaze of more than a million sparkling lights. Holiday Lights on the River features over 400 themed, animated light displays on a two-mile loop of the Park! Enjoy the Dazzling Dancing Forest with its dancing, lighted trees synchronized to classical and whimsical holiday music. See the three dimensional Victorian Village, Old Man Winter, the holiday classic Twelve Days of Christmas and so much more, all in sparkling lights. 39th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Cayce

Details: This event is sponsored by The Woman’s Club of Cayce and includes greetings from city officials, holiday thoughts, musical selections, and a visit from Santa. Proceeds from the sale of lights for the tree are given to God’s Helping Hands. The Woman’s Club is also sponsoring the Cayce Cares food drive and asks that participants donate non-perishable food items that will be given to God’s Helping Hands.


Harborside Festival of Lights at Lake Carolina

Details: Voted by The State readers as the top holiday event in Columbia in 2015, The Singing Christmas Tree has long been a favorite event of the Christmas season. Last year marked the 25th anniversary of “The Tree,” and  we’re excited to continue this long-standing tradition with five performances in 2016.  The Singing Christmas Tree thrills audiences from children to senior adults, and we invite you to make The Singing Christmas part of your family’s holiday tradition!

The Singing Christmas Tree features a 30′ tree adorned with thousands of twinkling LED lights. The  200+ person choir is accompanied by a thirty piece orchestra. The show features new and favorite Christmas songs and a dramatic presentation of the Christmas story, punctuated by dance ensembles and children’s choir.

Columbia City Ballet – The Nutcracker

Carols Along the Riverwalk

Famously Hot New Year

Cost: This is a free outdoor concert and parking is free at 6 local garages. Bring money for the vendors!

Details: Famously Hot New Year has grown to become South Carolina’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration, with a free, evening-length concert by a national headliner and the most colossal NYE fireworks display in the two Carolinas, adjacent to the historic S.C. State House on downtown Columbia, S.C.’s Main Street. Since 2011, Famously Hot New Year has gathered diverse communities to enjoy the free concert and fireworks; regional food vendors; plentiful cash bars with beer, wine and bubbly; a festival atmosphere; free parking and more in the “New Southern Hot Spot.” In 2015, more than 35,000 guests attended from 36 states and ten countries.


WOW! New Year’s Eve Kids
