Free Fridays at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden

Residents of Richland and Lexington counties will receive free admission to the Zoo and Garden every Friday during the months of January and February. Guests will be asked to provide a valid driver’s license, property tax statement or vehicle registration as proof of residency.

Hands on Art

Simple art fun for the very young. Dress for a mess!

Noisemakers

Research shows exposure to music can positively affect early literacy development including phonemic awareness, listening skills, and attention span. Experience music first hand while exploring musical books and instruments, singing songs, playing musical games, and learning about different cultures and musical styles including jazz, classical, and folk.

Tween Extreme: Lego Club

Join the block party — use your imagination, curiosity and problem-solving skills to build different Lego creations. Magical Opening Night Family Event for Elephant & Piggie

The Columbia SC Moms Blog is partnering with the Columbia Children’s Theatre to bring you a special opening night family event for the production of Elephant & Piggie! Magician. With interactive arts and crafts, special themed pre-show activities, character appearance, food and sweets galore. Tickets $15-$20.

Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie’s Doorway to Magic

Join Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and the comical duo of Donald and Goofy as 25 of your favorite characters surprise and captivate at every turn of the knob! See the Fairy Godmother transform Cinderella’s rags into a beautiful ball gown in a split second; the Toy Story gang defy the dimensions of Andy’s toy box with the help of the green army men; and the spectacular stage debut of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider as they rise into the sky amidst the floating lanterns. Dinos: The Big Dig

This dino-mite exhibit features roaring robotic dinosaurs such as the Stegosaurus, Raptor and Triceratops. Dig for fossils in the Dino Dig Pit and pan for gemstones in the Treasure Creek! Little ones will enjoy pretend play in the Paleo Tent and Lil’ Explorers area filled with costumes, puppets, books and puzzles. Your ticket is free with museum admission. Children and Adults: $11.50; Seniors (62+): $10.50; Military (with ID): $10.50; Children under two: Free

The Snow Queen

The Snow Queen is the story of Kai and Gerda, two best friends on a real adventure! When Kai comes in contact with a magic shard, he is whisked away to the castle of the Snow Queen. It’s up to Gerda to travel through the lands of Spring and Summer to rescue him….out-foxing a pirate and befriending a reindeer along the way.

The  Bright Smiles Bright Futures Van will be at EdVenture giving free dental screenings in honor of Take Heart and Smile Month.
