This storytime is for everyone. It is designed to include children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory-integration issues and other developmental needs. If your child experiences difficulty focusing in one of our other storytimes, this program of stories, songs and sensory-based activities might be just what you are looking for. Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream

Join your hosts Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as they share the heroic stories of four of your favorite Disney Princesses. Laugh along with Disney’s hair-raising escapade, Tangled, as Rapunzel, Flynn and Maximus embark on an uproarious expedition that soars to new heights! Travel to the enchanted forest with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as she escapes from the Evil Queen. Watch as Cinderella’s dreams come true with a little help from her animal friends and the Fairy Godmother. Boogie to the beat of the bayou with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, in a magical, musical journey. Nothing can stop a princess from a courageous adventure when Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream skates into to your hometown.

Toddlertime

Toddlertime is an interactive program for toddlers and their caregivers that encourages early enjoyment and development of language and literature through stories, rhymes and songs. For more information, call 345-5479. (ages 18 – 35 months)

Time: 11 – 11:30 a.m.

The cost is only $5 a car load and all proceeds go to local schools in the form of scholarships and grants.  The Sparkleberry Country Fair is the only fair in the state where you can have lots of fun, get an education, give to education and have hands-on demonstrations from the past!  Where else can you have that much fun while helping our students? Only at the Sparkleberry Country Fair!

Time: 4 – 10 p.m. (amusement park rides only)

Location: 900 Clemson Road, Columbia 29229

LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Literacy, Enrichment and Play (LEAP) is an interactive program for babies and their caregivers that uses books, rhymes, games, fingerplays and songs to encourage literacy through learning. For more information, call 785-2630. (ages birth – 18 months)

Kids Club® Spring 3D Canvas

They make; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a fun project. Sign up online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

Kid’s Day of Lexington

Kid’s Day of Lexington is solely intended for the education of families on issues of health, safety and environmental awareness. The beneficiaries of this event are the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter and the Dickerson Center for Children. Free.

Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Touch A Truck Presented by Junior League of Columbia

The annual Touch A Truck event will transform the State Farmers Market into a world of big rigs and heavy machinery for young and old alike to see up close! Kids will have the opportunity to explore exhibits like fire trucks, law enforcement vehicles, bulldozers, agricultural machinery, and antique military vehicles, as well as meet the men and women who build, protect, and serve the Midlands. This community event also features family-friendly entertainment, public safety information, plus healthy eating activities from the Junior League of Columbia’s (JLC) Kids in the Kitchen. Mascots, face painting, and other amusements will round out the fun. $6.00 —$20 for Family 4 Pack. Children 2 and under are free!

The Wonderful Things You Will Be Storytime

From brave and bold to creative and clever, this rhythmic rhyme expresses all the loving things that parents think of when they look at their children. With beautiful, and sometimes humorous, illustrations, The Wonderful Things You Will Be is a book grown-ups will love reading over and over to kids. Activities to follow.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Join Dorothy on her adventures through Oz. Meet the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion on their way to visit the Wizard. But Look out for the Wicked Witch, she sees everything from her tower in the West! The classic story comes to life; complete with silver slippers, flying monkeys, runaway hot air balloons, and even a trip to Quadling Country (a leg of the journey that is skipped in the movie).
