Porkchop Productions: Christmas, the Measles and Me

When Santa Claus comes down with the measles — just days before Christmas — Holly the Elf jumps in to save the day. With a cast of charismatic characters, big laughs and a happy ending, of course, this holiday favorite teaches the important lesson that wishes can come true. This heartwarming tale promises to rekindle Christmas memories and even warm the frostiest of hearts. (all ages)

Books & Beyond: Santa

A special holiday treat — Santa will slip away from his busy North Pole schedule to visit with children of all ages. You can even take a selfie with old St. Nick and Mrs. Claus. Main Street ICE

Enjoy a winter wonderland in the heart of the capital city this holiday season! Main Street ICE, the City of Columbia’s outdoor ice skating rink, will return for its fifth season Thanksgiving Day at Boyd Plaza (corner of Main and Hampton streets).

Monday through Wednesday (Discount Days)

  • $8 for adults
  • $5 for children ages 12 and under

 Thursday through Sunday (Regular Price)

  • $10 for adults
  • $8 for children ages 12 and under

 Active Duty Military with ID and Seniors age 55 and up

Lights Before Christmas

Bring the kids and the camera and see why Lights Before Christmas has continued as a family tradition for more than 25 years!

  • Nearly one million twinkling lights
  • Countless animated images
  • Nightly visits with Santa (on-site beginning at 6:00pm each night through December 23)
  • Warm memories and holiday cheer around the Jingle Bell Bonfire
  • Hot cocoa, s’mores and other festive foods available for purchase

$11 Adults, $9 Children ages 2–12, and children younger than 2 free. All Riverbanks members receive one free visit with a valid membership. Guest passes will not be accepted.

Candlelight Tours & Carriage Rides

Visit the decorated, candlelit halls of our historic Robert Mills House and the Hampton-Preston Mansion. Enjoy musical entertainment and children’s activities while celebrating the holidays with HC. Before or after your house tour, enjoy a carriage ride through the Robert Mills historic district. Carriage rides run from 5:30 until 8:30 and the house tours start at 6:00! Please note: Carriage Rides are considered an ‘add-on’ to the Candlelight Tours, so guests need to purchase the Candlelight Tour in order to book a Carriage Ride. Tour – Adult $12 ;  Children $8; Members free; Carriage Rides – $8 per person

Experience the magic as Saluda Shoals Park comes alive in a blaze of more than a million sparkling lights. Take a journey through colorful lights and over 400 animated light displays of all shapes and sizes! Create lasting family memories this year at Holiday Lights on the River.

New this Year!

There’s a brand new Holiday Lights entrance off St. Andrews Road! All Holiday Lights traffic will enter Saluda Shoals Park at the east entrance located between Wendy’s and Aldi on St. Andrews Road and exit onto Bush River Road. Holiday Lights visitors will enjoy an all new route this year. There will be no Holiday Light entrance on Bush River Road.

Holiday Lights Activities Every Night!

Fun-filled family activities will be offered every night during Holiday Lights on the River. Visitors can: • Ride the Hayride shuttle to the Wetland Walking trail • Ride the Saluda Shoals train • Walk along the lighted trail to the Wetland and enjoy a laser light show • Make a craft • Visit Santa’s Claus’et Gift Shop • Roast marshmallows • Santa will make a special appearance at Holiday Lights Dec. 9– 23 only. Nominal fees ($1-$10) for activities apply with Holiday Lights admission. Holiday Lights Admission $15/car; $25/15-passenger van; $40/bus

The Christmas Angel

Celebrating it’s 16th Anniversary, this fresh and exciting Ballet is sure to take your breath away. Balletomanes and the general public alike are mesmerized by the originality of this magical story as well as the quality and beauty of dance represented by Celestial Stars. Artistic Director, Gabrielle Celeste, wrote and choreographed “The Christmas Angel”. It is a story of a princess whose soul is devoured by jealousy and through the pure love of the Christmas Angel, she is forgiven and redeemed. Don’t miss this treasure of a performance.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical

Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summarizes his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when the ghosts Christmas reveal his Past, Present and Future.

Join Historic Columbia for a holiday treat to remember! Enjoy a continental breakfast in our cozy Carriage House while listening to seasonal music. After your meal, view the decorated halls of the Hampton-Preston Mansion, see a Victorian Christmas tree, make a holiday craft to take home, and don’t forget to take a picture with our Victorian Santa Claus!

Festivals of Sharing

Families are invited to explore how the holiday season is celebrated around the world through performances, hands-on activities, story time, and information tables. Countries represented will be: Mexico, Italy, Samoa, Thailand, Philippines, Ghana, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Peru, India and Russia. Festivals of Sharing is free with membership or regular admission.

Legends of Ancient Greece

Join Pan, the Protector of the Forest, as he shares three of the most famous stories from Greek Mythology: Pandora’s Box, Orpheus in the Underworld, and Theseus versus the Minotaur. This epic production introduces dozens of mythological characters and stories. It features elaborate shadow puppets and some of our largest marionettes!

Columbia City Ballet – The Nutcracker

Nutcracker, Columbia’s holiday family tradition, has the distinction of being Koger Center’s first Nutcracker production and longest consecutively running annual arts event. Tickets are $20 to $45

Candy Cane Hunt

Join us on the CCP Disc Golf Trail for a one-of-a-kind candy cane adventure! Santa and his elves will be hiding candy canes along the trail at Crooked Creek Park. Children should bring a basket or bag for their candy canes. There will also be prize candy canes hidden along the trail. Donate a new unwrapped toy and you’ll get to decorate a festive cupcake! Ages 2-8 $2

Dollar Sunday | Woodrow Wilson Family Home

Residents of Richland and Lexington Counties are invited to take a guided tour of one of our historic house museums for just $1! This month, visit the Woodrow Wilson Family Home for Dollar Sunday. General admission prices apply for any house tours after the first. Walk-ins welcome! The house will be open for guests to tour at their own pace, and guides will be available to answer any questions. Purchase tickets at the house between 1-4 p.m.
