Main Street ICE

Enjoy a winter wonderland in the heart of the capital city this holiday season! Main Street ICE, the City of Columbia’s outdoor ice skating rink, will return for its fifth season Thanksgiving Day at Boyd Plaza (corner of Main and Hampton streets).

Fees
Monday through Wednesday (Discount Days)

  • $8 for adults
  • $5 for children ages 12 and under

 Thursday through Sunday (Regular Price)

  • $10 for adults
  • $8 for children ages 12 and under

 Active Duty Military with ID and Seniors age 55 and up

  • $8 (Monday through Sunday)

Groups reservations will be accepted for parties of 20 people or more. Gift certificates will be available for purchase.

Lights Before Christmas

Bring the kids and the camera and see why Lights Before Christmas has continued as a family tradition for more than 25 years!

  • Nearly one million twinkling lights
  • Countless animated images
  • Nightly visits with Santa (on-site beginning at 6:00pm each night through December 23)
  • Warm memories and holiday cheer around the Jingle Bell Bonfire
  • Hot cocoa, s’mores and other festive foods available for purchase

$11 Adults, $9 Children ages 2–12, and children younger than 2 free. All Riverbanks members receive one free visit with a valid membership. Guest passes will not be accepted.

Experience the magic as Saluda Shoals Park comes alive in a blaze of more than a million sparkling lights. Take a journey through colorful lights and over 400 animated light displays of all shapes and sizes! Create lasting family memories this year at Holiday Lights on the River.

New this Year!

There’s a brand new Holiday Lights entrance off St. Andrews Road! All Holiday Lights traffic will enter Saluda Shoals Park at the east entrance located between Wendy’s and Aldi on St. Andrews Road and exit onto Bush River Road. Holiday Lights visitors will enjoy an all new route this year. There will be no Holiday Light entrance on Bush River Road.

Holiday Lights Activities Every Night!

Fun-filled family activities will be offered every night during Holiday Lights on the River. Visitors can: • Ride the Hayride shuttle to the Wetland Walking trail • Ride the Saluda Shoals train • Walk along the lighted trail to the Wetland and enjoy a laser light show • Make a craft • Visit Santa’s Claus’et Gift Shop • Roast marshmallows • Santa will make a special appearance at Holiday Lights Dec. 9– 23 only. Nominal fees ($1-$10) for activities apply with Holiday Lights admission. Holiday Lights Admission $15/car; $25/15-passenger van; $40/bus

A Christmas Carol: The Musical

Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summarizes his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when the ghosts Christmas reveal his Past, Present and Future.

Time: 8 p.m.

Santa’s Gingerbread Jamboree

Santa is coming! Santa is coming! EdVenture invites all families to enjoy the Gingerbread Jamboree which will be filled activities each weekend November 25 through December 31. This holiday series for children will feature photos with Santa, mini gingerbread house decorating, festive face painting and holiday arts and crafts. FREE with museum admission.

Homespun Holidays: Gingerbread House

It’s time to put the jingle in your holiday. Join our busy little elves and create your very own festive gingerbread house. All materials provided. Registration required. Presented in partnership with Friends of the Irmo Branch Library. For more information, call 798-7880, ext. 2. All ages.

Kids Club® Clay Pot Elf

They craft; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a Sprout character felt stocking project. Sign up in-store, online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

Cinderella

Anybody who’s anybody is going to the Royal Winter Ball. Anybody, that is, except Cinderella, whose feet are such an unusual size there are no shoes to fit them. But with the help of a fairy godmother and some sensible footwear, a happy ending is certainly in sight!

Legends of Ancient Greece

Join Pan, the Protector of the Forest, as he shares three of the most famous stories from Greek Mythology: Pandora’s Box, Orpheus in the Underworld, and Theseus versus the Minotaur. This epic production introduces dozens of mythological characters and stories. It features elaborate shadow puppets and some of our largest marionettes!

It’s Beginning To Look Like Christmas

Scout Day: Historic Holidays

Tour historic houses decorated for the holidays and learn how families in Columbia celebrated this season throughout the 19th century. A Victorian Santa Claus will visit with scouts and listen to those holiday gift requests! Scouts can also make a holiday craft and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies.

Individually registered girls must attend with an adult. Reservations required. Cayce-West Columbia Holiday Parade of Lights

The Greater Cayce – West Columbia Holiday Parade of Lights is one of the most anticipated holiday parades in the Midlands of South Carolina! Grab a spot early because this parade is a local favorite!

Time: 5:30 p.m.

Location: The parade will begin at the corner of Hwy 1 and 12th Street in West Columbia and proceeds down 12th Street ending in front of the Cayce Municipal Complex

Family Fun in the Garden: The Giving Tree — A Winter Celebration

Enjoy the season of giving as we host a winter woodland celebration! Join us as we create a “giving tree” for our woodland friends with bird feeders, seed wreaths and more. Participants will play winter games, create a woodland critter craft, listen to The Giving Tree, plus enjoy a special visit from a woodland friend. All ages are welcome, but activities are geared to ages 3 — 10. Cost: $10 per participant. Tickets required for both child and adult. Plus admission for general public. Reservation required

Blythewood Christmas Parade

Blythewood’s Transfiguration Church has officially taken over as the new organizer for the Blythewood Christmas Parade. All funds raised will go to the Christian Assistance Bridge in Blythewood, an organization devoted to supporting those in need in our community.

Time: 3 – 4 p.m.

Location: Parade begins at Blythewood High School, left on McNulty Road, left on Boney Road, left on Blythewood Road, back to Blythewood High School


Sensory-friendly Time with Santa

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and sensory processing differences are invited for Sensory-friendly Time with Santa and in the museum. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the museum in a safe and accepting environment, and enjoy interactive, hands-on activities. This Gingerbread Jamboree event is free admission to the museum for this special time.
