Celebrate Black History Month

What does an ice cream scoop, your shoes, and a traffic light have in common? They were all created by black inventors!

In this presentation with Faida Mfomboutmoun, children will learn the origins of real-life objects they use every day. Exploration into the child’s creative mind can create plans for things that they would invent. They learn about the patent process and how it works. Hands-on craft projects and worksheets are presented to aid in the learning process and allow the participants to have something to take with them at the conclusion of the event. Children will learn a way to embrace the idea that they too can create and contribute to the world in a way that can make lasting improvement. Free with admission or paid membership.

Time: 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Location: EdVenture Children’s Museum, 211 Gervais Street, Columbia 29201
