Columbia Marionette Theatre: Build It Better with the Three Little Pigs

Watch as three of our favorite storybook characters build a better world for themselves by combining resources and working together to keep the Big Bad Wolf away. Special cameo appearance by Little Red Riding Hood. Presented by Columbia Marionette Theatre. (grades K – 5)

Tween Extreme: Lego Club

Feats of Engineering: Summertime Series

Not all superheroes have superpowers. In fact, some of our favorites rely only on their brains to fight crime through Robotics, Vehicle Design, Mechanical Engineering, Forensic Science and Psychology. Come and learn about these amazing fields and meet a superhero.

Activities include:

  • Man of Iron appearances (Upstairs by AHA Factory: 10 am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 4pm)
  • Make Man of Iron’s reactor (chest light) in (Tinker Tech: 11am-1pm)
  • Super Hero Storytime: (Library exhibit: 10am, 2:30pm, 4pm)
  • Fire Truck (Outside in front: 11am-3pm)
  • Fire Department Booth(Dalmation Station: 9am-5pm)
  • Kid Print (Lobby)
  • Science on the Fly (Pop-up fun: 11am-1pm)
  • Squishy Circuits
  • Ozo Bots

LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Literacy, Enrichment and Play (LEAP) is an interactive program for babies and their caregivers that uses books, rhymes, games, fingerplays and songs to encourage literacy through learning. For more information, call 785-2630. (ages birth – 18 months)

Cayce Field Days

Join the Cayce-West Columbia (CWC) Junior Chamber at Memorial Park to experience Cayce Field Days, an interactive field day hosted each Saturday in June. The Cayce Field Days provide the community with a free program to keep kids active and social at the start of summer. This event is free to children from preschool to middle school across the Midlands.

Cayce Field Days was created by the Cayce-West Columbia Junior Chamber and the City of Cayce to provide a resource to the community where kids spend each Saturday in June being physically active. Children will be divided into age groups for each activity, play games such as GaGa Ball, Kickball, Soccer, Tennis, Badminton and get crafty at the tie-dye station where children will create their own field day shirt to take home.

Kids Club®

They make; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a fun project. Sign up online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

Edventure: Awesome Aeronautics

Ever wonder how an airplane stays in the sky? Explore the awesome world of aeronautics and learn about the four forces of flight and their effects on objects in the air. Use these principals to build a better paper airplane that can reach faster speeds and cover greater distances. Presented in partnership with Edventure. For more information, call 785-3519.

Puppet Playhouse: Fabulous Fables

Join Columbine, Rosetta, Pantalone, Punchin, and Arlequino as they present the tale of Sleeping Beauty like you’ve never seen before. This original adaptation is performed in the traditional style of commedia dell’arte, a largely improvisational style of street theatre originating in 16th century Italy. With lots of physical comedy, audience interaction, jokes, and surprises, this hilarious “fractured fairy tale” will delight children and adults of all ages! Tickets $5.

The Rainbow Fish Storytime

This modern classic is celebrating its 25th year in print! With eye-catching foil stamping glittering on every page, it offers instant child appeal. But it is the universal message at the heart of this story about a beautiful fish who learns to make friends by sharing his most prized possessions that gives the book its lasting appeal. Activities to follow.

Little Red Riding Hood

Big Bad Wolf can’t get any respect. He’s the laughing stock of the forest. He can’t even get the Three Little Pigs to answer the door. Just when he’s at an all time low, a little girl in a red hood happens by and he sees an opportunity! Will Big Bad live up to his name? Or will Little Red be able to outsmart him and make it safely to her Grandma? With a variety of puppetry techniques and plenty of humor, Little Red Riding Hood is an irreverent take on the classic fairy tale.

The Wiz Sing-Along

Ease on down the road with Dorothy and her friends as we watch this classic film. Dress as your favorite character and get ready to sing along with Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and more.
