Hands On Art

Tween Extreme: Lego Club

Join the block party — use your imagination, curiosity and problem-solving skills to build different Lego creations. LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Literacy, Enrichment and Play (LEAP) is an interactive program for babies and their caregivers that uses books, rhymes, games, fingerplays and songs to encourage literacy through learning. For more information, call 785-2630. (ages birth – 18 months)

Kids Club® Fairy House

Weatherfest

The National Weather Service and EdVenture Children’s Museum are teaming up for Weatherfest 2017! This event will be blowing into Columbia on March 11 from 10am to 3pm bringing the public, local meteorologists and emergency officials together for the region’s premiere severe weather and preparedness event. Children will learn the role of a meteorologist and will practice giving their own weather reports in front of a green screen. A moderated panel discussion entitled “Ask the Experts” with meteorologists from local television stations, the National Weather Service, S.C. State Climate Office and Shaw Air Force Base will focus on their career paths, notable weather events, weather safety and challenges in the industry. The panel will field questions from the audience. Weather-related activities will be offered in the museum.

STEAM Saturday: Robotics

Gear up for the future with fun, hi-tech toys. Race through our obstacle course and perform cool tricks with programmable robots Sphero Spark+ and Ollie. Construct robots using Cubelets and master the basic principles of programming. STEAM programs stimulate children’s interest in science, technology, engineering, art and math. Bela Dentistry of Irmo Chili Cook-Off

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

The classic story comes to life; complete with silver slippers, flying monkeys, runaway hot air balloons, and even a trip to Quadling Country (a leg of the journey that is skipped in the movie).

Goldilocks, and the 3 B’s: Bach, Beethoven, and Beyoncé for families

Join us as Columbia City Ballet performs excepts from their new ballet based on the story of The Three Bears. Learn each of the musical styles through the bears with Papa Bear as Bach, Mama Bear as Beethoven and Baby Bear being fierce and sassy as Beyoncé.
