Discovery Day: Turkey Time

Can you strut like a proud turkey? Can you gobble nice and loud? Come on to the farm for some turkey time! COST: $6 for one child (with one adult) per class. Plus admission for general public. Ages 2 – 5

Time: 9:45 – 10:30 a.m. & 11 – 11:45 a.m.

Toddlertime

Storytime is a fun way to introduce preschoolers to literature. It includes books, storytelling, poetry and songs. For more information, call 785-3519. (ages 2 – 5 years)

LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Literacy, Enrichment and Play (LEAP) is an interactive program for babies and their caregivers that uses books, rhymes, games, fingerplays and songs to encourage literacy through learning. For more information, call 785-2630. (ages birth – 18 months)

Santa & Me

We can’t get enough of Santa during the holidays! He exudes magic and wonder. He fills homes with excitement and anticipation. Experience Santa’s magic during “Santa & Me” at Festival of Trees and leave with a treasure! With the help of The Mad Platter team, your child and Santa will create a keepsake featuring handprints from your child and Jolly Old St. Nick. Children range from $15-25, Parents are free of charge.

Time: 10 a.m. – noon

Kids Club®

They make; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a fun project. Sign up online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

Hanging With Heroes

Are you ready to hang out with your favorite heroes? Your family can enjoy fun with local firefighters, police, military personnel, firetrucks, police cars and more! You’ll also have to opportunity to interact with favorite superheroes Wonder Woman, Batman and Iron Man! Combine this all with interactive activities, games, arts & crafts, food, local vendors and more – hosted by Columbia SC Moms Blog, it’s an event you don’t want to miss!

 Santa Signing Day at the Gift Shop at Robert Mills

This free, family-friendly event is the perfect opportunity to get into the holiday spirit, visit with Santa, enjoy holiday activities and begin checking off your shopping list! In addition, guests will have the opportunity to tour the historic basement at that Robert Mills House and see the elves hard at work, gingerbread cookies and goodies baked by Mrs. Claus, and wrapped gifts and hanging stocking by the fireplace. Guests will receive 30% off their entire Gift Shop purchase (some exclusions apply) and light refreshments.

Family Games Day @ the Library

Join us for an afternoon of board games, video games, and more! Be sure to bring your Magic Pokemon, and/or Yu-Gi-Oh decks! Volunteers will be on hand to teach you how to play some of the newest games (all ages).

Bear Says Thanks Storytime

Join us for this special Storytime in celebration of Thanksgiving. When Bear decides to throw a feast to thank his friends, they show up one by one with different platters of delicious food to share. There’s just one problem: Bear’s cupboards are bare! What is he to do? Find out at Storytime, with activities to follow.

Snow White

Join seven lovable Dwarfs as they retell this classic tale with a few new surprises. When the jealous Queen’s Magic Mirror proclaims Snow White the fairest one of all, she’ll need the help of the Dwarfs and a friendly bear who is more than he seems.  Field trip groups, ask about our puppet making activity. Participants can create either Snow White, a Dwarf, or a Knight!

TAB Presents: Not Your Grandma’s Bingo

Enjoy a night of fun as we play an unconventional round or two of Bingo. If your number is called will you know the trivia answer? be able to sing the lyrics to a popular song? perform the task? It’s not your grandma’s Bingo, but she’s welcome to come play too! Age Group(s): 13 – 18, Programs for Families, Programs for Teens

Lights Before Christmas at Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens

Experience Columbia’s longest running holiday tradition—the 30th annual Lights Before Christmas at Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. The Zoo will illuminate at 5 p.m. each evening with nearly one million twinkling lights and countless animated images. Guests are invited to meander through the park while soaking in the sights and sounds of the holiday season. Plus, Riverbanks is the only place in town where it snows every night. $9 Children (ages 2-12 years), $11 Adults, younger than 2 free (all Riverbanks members receive one free visit with a valid membership)

Time: 5 – 9 p.m.

 CinéCola Closing: Ma Vie de Courgette

Join the CMA and the Alliance Française for the final film screening of CinéCola, a locally organized and funded effort to promote French-language film. Ma Vie De Courgette (My Life as a Zucchini) is a marvelously nuanced and finely crafted depiction of childhood that appeals to both the young and the young at heart. It is imbued with a real-life sense of childhood wonder, both through its inventive animation and its commitment to exclusively telling the story from the children’s perspectives. Premiering at Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, the film wooed general audiences for its idiosyncratic style and bold treatment of its subjects. Most recently it was nominated for a 2017 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served after the screening. Free.
