Friday, November 27

Snowville

Children can climb Mount EdVerest, explore an ice cave, and even tube down Sled Hill, a 25 ft. long slippery slope sure to give thrills to all. Along the way, children will learn about the science behind the snow in a fun and exciting environment. Your ticket to Snowville is free with museum admission. Children and Adults: $11.50; Seniors (62+): $10.50; Military (with ID): $10.50; Children under two: Free

Hands on Art

Simple art fun for the very young. Dress for a mess! Ages 3-5.

Main Street Ice

Grab your family and friends, and head down to Boyd Plaza for Main Street ICE — The City of Columbia’s outdoor ice skating rink! The fee to skate is $10 for adults, $8 for children (age 12 and under) and $8 for active duty military and seniors (55+). The fee includes skate rentals. Special opening day and weekday rates.

Time: 1-10 p.m.

Lights Before Christmas

Experience Columbia’s longest running holiday tradition—the 28th annual Lights Before Christmas at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. The Zoo will light up each evening with more than one million twinkling lights and countless animated images representing some of Riverbanks’ most loveable residents. Guests can roast marshmallows at the jingle bell bonfire, visit with Santa and enjoy the festive sounds of the Music in Motion lights spectacular. Riverbanks is also the only place in town where it snows every night!

Time: 5 -9 p.m.

Holiday Lights on the River

Experience the magic of the Midlands Largest Drive-Through Lights Show! Saluda Shoals Park will come alive in a blaze of more than a million sparkling lights. Holiday Lights on the River features over 400 themed, animated light displays on a two-mile loop of the park! Fun-filled family activities will be offered every night during Holiday Lights on the River at a nominal fee ($1-$10). Visitors can:

•    Ride the Red-Nose Express Hayride to the Wetland
•    Ride the Saluda Shoals Choo-Choo
•    Take a slide on the Winter Wonder Ride
•    Walk along the lighted trail to the Wetland and enjoy a laser light show and the Deck the Doors Holiday door display
•    Make a craft
•    Visit Santa’s Claus’et Gift Shop
•    Roast marshmallows

Time: 6-10 p.m.

Carolina Ballet’s Nutcracker

The Nutcracker features dancers, both pre-professional and professional, from all over the region including the Carolina Ballet senior, junior and apprentice ensembles. All seats are general admission & are $20.50 for adults & $15.50 for students. Student tickets are available at the Township Auditorium Box Office ONLY.

Saturday, November 28

Home Depot Workshop: Build A School House Bank

Bring your kids to Home Depot and start a project kids can take to the bank. With the School House Bank Workshop at The Home Depot, teach them the basics of working with tools, while letting them take pride in building a functional object to keep. Free hand-on workshop, designed for children ages 5-12. Kids get to keep their craft and receive a certificate of achievement, a workshop apron and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Please do not arrive before 9 a.m.; workshop spots are available on a first come/first served basis. Please register online to help us plan supplies.

AMC Sensory Friendly Film: The Good Dinosaur

Sensory friendly films provide a special opportunity for all families, including those affected by autism, to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment. The auditoriums dedicated to the program have their lights up, the sound turned down and audience members are invited to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing!

The Good Dinosaur asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of. Runs 1 hour and 42 minutes and is rated G.

Train Rides with Santa 2015 – SC Railroad Museum

All aboard the Rockton, Rion and Western Railroad to take an hour long scenic train ride with Santa! Seating is limited so order your tickets here before you go! Train Rides with Santa: First Class car $20 per person; Santa Train $12 per adult, $9 per child 3-12. Twilight Santa Express: $20 per person.

The Snow Queen

The Snow Queen is the story of Kai and Gerda, two best friends on a real adventure! When Kai comes in contact with a magic shard, he is whisked away to the castle of the Snow Queen. It’s up to Gerda to traver through the lands of Spring and Summer to rescue him….out-foxing a pirate and befriending a reindeer along the way.

Time: 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
