4 Lexington Restaurants You Need to Try Out | Columbia SC Moms BlogWhether you just moved to Lexington or have been there your entire life, you’ll find the area is full of fantastic restaurants. Here are my favorite local, one-of-a-kind spots for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that are sure to please any palette.

Breakfast

Creekside

711 East Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072

Sunday – Saturday: 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Creekside offers breakfast, brunch, and lunch but my favorite is their breakfast! They have the best sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and bacon in Lexington! The restaurant is located in Lexington’s Old Mill. At right under $10 a person for lunch or breakfast, it’s the perfect price point for enjoying an incredible meal without breaking the bank.

Lunch

Momma Rabbit’s Nibbles and Sips

5082 Sunset Boulevard, Suite A, Lexington, SC 29072

Sunday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. / Monday – Closed / Tuesday – Friday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. & 5:30 p.m.. – 9 p.m. / Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. & 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

I love everything about Momma Rabbit’s! The atmosphere is cozy and the decor is lovely. Most of the people who work there are members of the Allen family. The siblings who own the restaurant were homeschooled and taught how to grow crops and raise sheep, goats, and free-range chickens. Personally, my favorite menu item is the Carolina Club with a side of chicken salad.

Momma Rabbit’s Nibbles and Sips! This club sandwich did not disappoint and it was so filling.

Vegetable Medley

309 Oak Drive, Lexington, SC 29073

Sunday 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. / Monday – Closed / Tuesday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. & 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Vegetable Medley serves lunch and dinner, but their prices are slightly cheaper for lunch. They have the best local barbeque (pulled pork) in Lexington, in my opinion. They have all of your southern staples on the buffet: butter beans, rice and hash, macaroni and cheese, banana pudding, chocolate eclair, fried chicken, and cornbread. Their food is absolutely delicious! My favorites are the macaroni and cheese and butter beans. If you don’t know what butter beans are – go try some at Vegetable Medley and they will be your new southern favorite. Every day they have certain specialty items. For instance, on Saturday they have BBQ ribs and on Sunday they have turkey and dressing.

Dinner

The Root Cellar

420 Columbia Avenue, Lexington, SC 29072

Sunday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

The Root Cellar is a farm to table restaurant that has quickly become one of my Lexington favorites. If you want authentic southern dining or to impress your family and friends from out of town with the best southern food, take them to The Root Cellar. The entire menu is delicious, but my personal favorites are their fried green tomatoes, The Root Cellar Burger, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, baby lima beans, and macaroni and cheese. Also, I have to say that their cornbread is the best I have ever had (and I am not even a big cornbread). As an added bonus, The Root Cellar also provides catering – perfect for those upcoming holiday parties or unexpected times when family drops in and you don’t feel like cooking.

The Root Cellar has the best southern food around. If you want food the way Granny used to make eat your next lunch or dinner there!

  1. I’m glad you like the list! I haven’t been to The Root Cellar in a few months. I like to go on date nights without kids. Lol! We go to Creekside almost every Sunday for breakfast. I just bought their t-shirt so I can get a free beverage with my meal.
