I am, admittedly, completely obsessed with coffee. I have been known to stop a conversation mid-sentence and express my absolute love for the stuff to my husband while I’m drinking it.
I could come up with pretty much any excuse to have a cup. Tired? Drink coffee. Cold day? Give me coffee. Not feeling 100 percent? Coffee should fix that. Hmm . . . it’s windy today. I’d better drink more coffee. It really doesn’t matter — I think coffee is glorious.
What’s even better than coffee? Having an entire day dedicated to it. September 29 is National Coffee Day 2016, and if you are equally as coffee-obsessed as I am, there are some definite perks for us java enthusiasts.
Let’s start off with what I’m sure you’re all wondering — where to get free or discounted coffee:
Free coffee and original glazed doughnut. (*rubs eyes*) I’m pretty sure the only thing that could possibly make free coffee better is a free doughnut.
Get any medium hot coffee for 66 cents (they’re celebrating their 66th year in business, so while it’s not free, this is still pretty great.)
Get $1 off a 16 oz. Allegro Pumpkin Spice Latte. You’ll need the Whole Foods app for this one.
Invite a friend to coffee IN their #coffeecafecommunity and your coffee is free. Want something extra special to celebrate??? BOGO free lattes, mochas, or anything francy from the Espresso Bar!
While not everyone is offering free coffee or discounts, a few like McDonald’s and Starbucks are donating proceeds, or even planting trees for coffee purchases. So if you’re visiting these places for this year’s National Coffee Day, you’ll also be contributing to good causes.
Don’t forget the local favorites:
While you’re out celebrating one of my favorite holidays, be sure to visit some of the great local coffee shops we have in and around Columbia. Here is a list of a few of my favorites, as well as those that were recommended to me when I asked around:
Hopefully you are now fully prepared to get the most from National Coffee Day this year. We coffee enthusiasts may not need any extra excuse to partake in our favorite drink, but having a special day for it makes drinking it just a little more fun.
