Oh, New Year. The time to change yourself for the better and turn over a new leaf. Time to make those resolutions and actually follow through with them this year.
I do it every year. I tell myself I’ll workout more, stress out less, and give up my bad habits. I’ll be a better friend, get to work on time, and be a better me.
You know what, though? This year I’m doing something different.
New year, same me.
That’s right. I’m making a resolution to make no resolutions. Not that I don’t need improvements, but I’m going to embrace my imperfections and claim they give me character and charm. I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the perfect wife, mom, employee, etc., so I’m saying no to additional pressure and relishing in my snack-food eating self awareness.
Here are my New Year’s Non-Resolutions, the things I’m going to keep doing in the New Year that I already do now … and I hope you’ll share yours as well.
- I will continue eating unhealthy food. Maybe I’ll control my portions a bit better, but I vow to never eliminate pizza or sweets from my diet. There must be some pleasures in life.
- I will continue being terrible at SnapChat. I will continue posting random awkward selfies and baby pictures and not seek out any more followers than the three I currently have.
- I will keep my same workout schedule. I seriously workout hard enough, and I’m pretty happy with my routine. I’m not going to change it a bit.
- I will not give up wine or drink less coffee. Just no.
- I will continue stressing out unnecessarily over things that probably aren’t that important. It’s just my nature, and honestly, I think a little stress makes me a more productive human, yes?
- I will not find new activities to enjoy. I’m happy with my current activities schedule, which consists of loving my job and chasing my baby. And snacking. And coffee.
- I will not be more extroverted. I have struck just the right balance of extroverting and introverting. I’m a pro. Not changing it.
