Pumpkin Smash

Riverbanks’ residents will enjoy a post-Halloween treat during the Zoo’s annual Pumpkin Smash. Watch as our mammals, reptiles, birds and fish enjoy and interact with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes—even some with extra treats. Riverbanks’ pumpkin smash is a form of animal enrichment used daily at the Zoo to encourage natural behaviors.
COST: All activities are free with paid admission or membership.

Columbia City Ballet: Gala With A Bite

We invite you to Count Dracula’s castle for an evening of ghoulish delights. This Masquerade Affair will include live entertainment, heavy-hors-d’oeuvres and silent auction to immediately follow the Friday night production of Dracula: Ballet With A Bite. Costume attire is suggested and cocktail attire is recommended.

Trunk or Treat

Put on your costume and join Historic Columbia as we bring the fun of Halloween to the Robert Mills House during Trunk or Treat! Children will enjoy trick-or-treating with a twist in a safe and fun environment. Community members and organizations will display decorated trunks filled with candy in the parking lot of the Robert Mills House. Awards and prizes for best costumes, best decorated trunk, and scarecrows will be given at 6:45 pm. Don’t forget to visit the Gift Shop at Robert Mills during this free event!

Historic Columbia is accepting registrations for businesses, organizations and families to place a decorated vehicle at the event. This is a great opportunity for businesses and organizations to promote their mission, give away branded merchandise, and hand out candy to hundreds of children at a free community event.

Vehicle owners must register via email by Monday, October 23. For more information, visit historiccolumbia.org.

Boo at the Zoo

Make tracks to Riverbanks for the Zoo’s annual Halloween spook-tacular. Guests will enjoy 11 wild nights of safe, affordable, family-friendly activities. Trick-or-treat throughout the Zoo, frolic in Frankenstein’s Foam Zone, rock the night away at Mummy’s Eeky Freaky Dance Party, plus much more. For an additional charge, guests can also toast s’mores, take a spin on the Haunted Carousel or hop aboard the Spooky Spots and Stripes Railroad.
COST: $9 Riverbanks members / $11 general public / children younger than 2 free.

Spirits Alive!

Grab your flashlight and join Historic Columbia and Elmwood Cemetery staff for guided tours presenting some of Columbia’s eerie and peculiar past by the light of the moon! Different than the regular monthly tours, Spirits Alive! Cemetery Tours feature costumed tour guides, snacks and other Halloween-related activities.

Admission info:
HC members: $8 adults, $4 youth
Non-members: $12 adults, $6 youth

Admission includes tour of Elmwood Cemetery and light snacks. Reservations required. Tours begin every 30 minutes, and the last tour starts at 8:30 pm.
