Discovery Day: Fuzzy Ferrets

Ferrets are fuzzy and cute! Come join the fun as we discover more about these animal friends. COST: $6 for one child (with one adult) per class. Plus admission for general public.

Disney’s Aladdin Jr. at Town Theatre

Wow! Disney’s Aladdin Jr. is sure to send audiences soaring on a flying carpet ride filled with romance and adventure. When the street urchin, Aladdin, seeks the attention of princess Jasmine, he employs a genie’s magic power so that he can become a prince and wed the girl of his dreams. But, it isn’t quite as easy as 1-2-3! Iago, Jafar, the Genie and more wonderful characters combine in this musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love. Tickets are $12 for Adults and $10 for Youth 17 & under/Seniors 65+/Full-Time College/Active Duty Military.

The Addams Family

Dutch Fork High School presents The Addams Family. The musical will run in Dutch Fork High School’s Auditorium on April 13 and 14 at 7 p.m., with matinees on April 14 at 2 pm and April 15 at 3 p.m. Dutch Fork High School is located at 1400 Old Tamah Road in Irmo, SC. The show is rated PG. Price: $7.00 to $10.00 —$7 for students and seniors, $10 for adults

Cyber Saturday – LilyPad

LilyPad – 3rd – 12th Grades Students will create wearable e-textile technology utilizing electronics, crafts, sewing and code. LilyPad is designed to have large connecting pads to allow them to be sewn into clothing. They’re even washable! Note: No refunds for tickets within seven days of event.

Kick It Karate

Kick it Karate is a free specialized karate class for all kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This SC Developmental Disabilities Council program takes place at Capital Karate in Rosewood every Saturday morning (pending holidays and cancellations due to weather).

Qualified and certified karate instructors take time to help those with special needs develop confidence and basic karate moves. There are three age groups:

  • Ages 3-6 class from 9.15-9.45 am
  • Ages 7-12 class from 10-10:30 am
  • Ages 13+ class from 10.45-11.15 am

LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Kindie Grits: Animation Workshop!

Calling all kids and families! Kindie Grits is an event presented by the SC Governor’s School of Arts and Humanities that welcomes kids of all ages. Come join us this year for an animation extravaganza! We will be utilizing three different styles of animation techniques, including both digital and analogue. The workshop will be led by OK Keyes, Charlotte Taylor, and Kelly Gallagher– Indie Grits alumni / youth educator extraordinaires. It’s totally free, and a great opportunity for kids to engage with their creativity and fun!

Kids Club®

They make; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a fun project. Sign up online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

5th annual Curing Kids Cancer Firetruck Pull

Gather 10 or 12 of your strongest friends to pull a fire truck 50 feet in honor or memory of a child with cancer to raise money for Curing Kids Cancer’s $1.2 million endowment at The Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital for innovative treatments. Teams also compete to see who can raise the most money. Teams may dress up in what interests the child whom they are pulling for. i.e. super heroes, favorite color, sports teams, etc. Spectators can cheer for their favorite teams, buy raffle tickets, tour the Columbia Fire Museum, enjoy lawn games, food trucks, & face painting. Can you pull a fire truck?

23rd Columbia International Festival

International Friendship Ministries presents the Columbia International Festival April 14-15 at the State Fairgrounds. Highlighting the Mandarin-speaking community, the festival features cultural performances, a bazaar and global cuisine. Family-friendly indoor event. Admission: $7. Active military (w/ ID) and children under 12 free. Parking $5.

Classical music and picture books come together to make a beautiful melody for this special storytime. This collaboration between [email protected], a student-run musical outreach organization, and Richland Library is sure to delight and entertain children of all ages.

Columbia Children’’s Theatre presents “Stone Soup”

In a grey town made entirely of stones, where everyone is afraid of everything, a stranger arrives with nothing to fear. Will he inspire the citizens to take back their city and tear down their walls? Will his new-found friend find the courage to use her power to bring the magical city back to life? Just what is the recipe for “Stone Soup,” anyhow?

“Stone Soup” is an imaginative, high-energy, and comedic re-telling of the traditional folk story using musical styles from Rock / Pop to Folk and World. Full of memorable songs and characters and designed to entertain audiences of all ages the story digs into what it means to conquer your fears, and how powerful we can be when we work together. Presented by Columbia Children’s Theatre.

Pig the Star Storytime

Pig does everything he can to be the star of a photo shoot. When the photographer starts to favor his friend, Pig must try everything to steal back the show! Join us for this laugh-out-loud Storytime, with activities to follow.

Jack and the Giants

Giants are supposed to be big, mean, and nasty. They eat anyone who crosses their path. But Flinch isn’t like other giants. He’s constantly picked on by his bigger brothers for being sweet, caring, and… a vegetarian! When he sneaks away from his home in the mountaintops to the valley below, he befriends a poor young boy named Jack. Soon he’s found a new home, but his bigger brothers won’t let him go that easily.

CMT’s production is a twist on the classic story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Featuring some of our largest puppets, this show is also big on heart!

Soiree on State Festival

City of Cayce has partnered with The Avenues Neighborhood Association to combine the Cayce Festival of the Arts with Soiree on State. This partnership will expand the Soiree on State to include more artists, a larger kid’s area, variety of musicians, and fun all afternoon long! Soiree on State will run from 12:00 – 8:00 PM along State Street, from Michaelmas Avenue (M Ave.) to Railroad Street. Free.

River Rocks Festival 2018

Congaree Riverkeeper presents the 8th annual River Rocks Festival. The festival will also include environmental education, family friendly activities, food and beverages. Proceeds from this festival fund Congaree Riverkeeper’s work protecting the Broad, Saluda and Congaree Rivers.

Kids Paint & SIP

Check Out our Paint-N-SIP for KIDS on April 14th starting at 1:00pm. The cost is $15 per child, parents do not have to pay. We had a Blast at our last Kid’s Paint-N-SIP with snacks, music and Lemondade provided by “Juju’s Lemonade Stand”, our young 7 year old Jr. Prenuer. The age range is from 6 to 15 years old.
