Celebrate Black History Month

What does an ice cream scoop, your shoes, and a traffic light have in common? They were all created by black inventors!

In this presentation with Faida Mfomboutmoun, children will learn the origins of real-life objects they use every day. Exploration into the child’s creative mind can create plans for things that they would invent. They learn about the patent process and how it works. Hands-on craft projects and worksheets are presented to aid in the learning process and allow the participants to have something to take with them at the conclusion of the event. Children will learn a way to embrace the idea that they too can create and contribute to the world in a way that can make lasting improvement. Free with admission or paid membership.

Time: 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Location: EdVenture Children’s Museum, 211 Gervais Street, Columbia 29201

Bunnicula

A dancing cat, a howling dog, and a vampire bunny. The perfect pet combination for any family. It’s a dark and stormy night and Chester (the family cat) and Harold (the family dog) sit waiting for their owners to return home from the movies. Chester and Harold are more than just pets, they’re good friends too. When the Monroes finally get home, they come bearing a surprise: they’ve found a bunny in the movie theater. But this is no ordinary rabbit… this is the extraordinary Bunnicula. When the family’s produce starts losing its juice, Chester thinks he knows what’s causing the fantastic phenomenon. Bunnicula is a vampire! Or maybe Chester’s imagination is getting the better of him. Singing and dancing their way through this hilarious mystery, the furry friends find room in their hearts, and in their home, for one very unique bunny. $10.00 for children 3 years old through adult. Seniors & Active Duty Military $8.00. All tickets are $5.00 on Saturday nights at 7:00. Advance tickets are strongly encouraged.

You may want to double check the day for Cinderella at the library, I thought I saw that it was Sunday not Saturday. Thanks for the list, I love seeing what’s going on all in one place!
