Donald Duck Birthday Celebration with Movie and More

Come join us and celebrate Donald Duck’s birthday by having a Disney birthday party! We’ll have a Disney themed cake and movie to make Donald Duck’s birthday a special one!

Storytime for Listeners

Storytime is a fun way to introduce preschoolers to literature. It includes books, storytelling, poetry and songs. For more information, call (803) 785-3050. (ages 18 months – 5 years)

Teen Gaming Hour

We’ve got a Wii and XBox and you know how to play it. Join us to enjoy your favorite games. Welcome to bring your own game(s).

Summer Reading Kickoff

Libraries ROCK — it’s time to hit the ground running with Summer Reading and this party is going to be hot. Activities include fun games and crafts. We’ll have snacks, too. For more information, call (803) 785-3519. (all ages)

Twilight in the Garden: featuring Paddington 2

The big screen returns to Riverbanks on select Friday nights this summer. Explore Waterfall Junction then enjoy a family-friendly movie beginning at dusk (Waterfall Junction will open at 6:00pm and close just prior to the start of the movie). Food and beverages also will be available for purchase. More information will be posted closer-to-date. COST: $3 Riverbanks members / $5 general public.

Kick It Karate

Kick it Karate is a free specialized karate class for all kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This SC Developmental Disabilities Council program takes place at Capital Karate in Rosewood every Saturday morning (pending holidays and cancellations due to weather).

Qualified and certified karate instructors take time to help those with special needs develop confidence and basic karate moves. There are three age groups:

  • Ages 3-6 class from 9.15-9.45 am
  • Ages 7-12 class from 10-10:30 am
  • Ages 13+ class from 10.45-11.15 am

Bounce into Summer – Moonbounce Mania

LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Literacy, Enrichment and Play (LEAP) is an interactive program for babies and their caregivers that uses books, rhymes, games, fingerplays and songs to encourage literacy through learning. For more information, call 785-2630. (ages birth – 18 months)

Meet a Congaree Park Ranger!

They make; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a fun project. Sign up online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

The Commedia Emperor’s New Clothes 

The Spaghetti and Meatball Players return with their unpredictably hilarious take on the traditional tale.

Storytime and Activities Featuring Incredibles 2: Sweet Dreams, Jack-Jack

The Incredibles are back navigating the heroics of everyday life when a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot that only The Incredibles can overcome together. Activities to follow.

Summer learning Challenge Kick-off Celebration

School’s out. Join us for a celebration to mark the beginning of summer and the start of the Richland Library’s Summer Learning Challenge. Carolina Wildlife Presents: Urban Wildlife: As Close as Your Backyard. Students learn how animals have adapted to living close to humans and how we can make our neighborhoods safer for them. Photo Booth, Face Painting, Fortune-telling and lots of fun!

Family Storytime: Urban Wildlife: As Close as Your Backyard

Neighborhoods keep growing and changing and wildlife is losing habitat, forcing them to move into our backyards. Opossums that climb, snakes that slither and birds that fly – our backyards are filled with countless fascinating creatures to protect! Students learn how animals have adapted to living close to humans and how we can make our neighborhoods safer for them.

Time: 11 a.m. – noon

Beauty and the Beast

A vain Prince learns a valuable lesson when he is turned into a hulking Beast for his selfish behavior. It will take a young woman named Beauty to teach him the error of his ways. CMT’s adaptation has  both drama and comedy, and features detailed marionettes and rod puppets.

Time: 11 a.m. & 3 p.m.

Blythewood Bookworms – Where’s Waldo Fun

Where’s Waldo? He’s somewhere in the library! Join us for some Waldo fun. Please sign up in advance. Age Group(s): 9-12, Programs for School Age Children

Family Fun Events: Pirate and Mermaid Party

Join us “under the sea” in this exceptional experience with pirates and mermaids! Enjoy boat races down Waterfall Junction’s stream, go on a treasure hunt and discover life from a mermaid’s perspective! This party includes time in the splash zone for the first hour and then lots of pirate and mermaid activities for the whole family. Be sure to meet our special mermaid and pirate friends, too. COST: $15 per child (ages 2 and up) and $5 per adult.
