Richland Library and Lexington Library hold LOTS of storytimes over the weekend! Click the links to find a time that works for your family.

Discovery Day: Llama Mama

Llamas and alpacas are funny animals with soft fur and a lot of spunk. Discover what types of jobs these animals have while we get up close to our resident alpacas! Ages 2-5. $6 for one child (with one adult) per class. Plus admission for general public.

Storytime is a fun way to introduce preschoolers to literature. It includes books, storytelling, poetry and songs. For more information, call 785-3519. (ages 2 – 5 years)

Teen Gaming Hour

Tween Extreme: CrafterNoon

Join us for a crafternoon of fun just for tweens. Learn creative skills and techniques with interesting hands-on projects. All materials provided. For more information, call 345-5479. (grades 4 – 7)J

Kick It Karate

Kick it Karate is a free specialized karate class for all kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This SC Developmental Disabilities Council program takes place at Capital Karate in Rosewood every Saturday morning (pending holidays and cancellations due to weather).

Qualified and certified karate instructors take time to help those with special needs develop confidence and basic karate moves. There are three age groups:

  • Ages 3-6 class from 9.15-9.45 am
  • Ages 7-12 class from 10-10:30 am
  • Ages 13+ class from 10.45-11.15 am

LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Literacy, Enrichment and Play (LEAP) is an interactive program for babies and their caregivers that uses books, rhymes, games, fingerplays and songs to encourage literacy through learning. For more information, call 785-2630. (ages birth – 18 months)

Kids Club®

They make; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a fun project. Sign up online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

Mother’s Day Storytime featuring I’ve Loved You Since Forever and Everything Is Mama

Join us for a special Mother’s Day Storytime featuring books by bestselling authors Hoda Kotb and Jimmy Fallon. Activities to follow.

Beauty and the Beast

A vain Prince learns a valuable lesson when he is turned into a hulking Beast for his selfish behavior. It will take a young woman named Beauty to teach him the error of his ways. CMT’s adaptation has  both drama and comedy, and features detailed marionettes and rod puppets.

Mother’s Day Cupcake Decorating

Celebrate Mother’s Day with cupcake decorating. Bring a loved one. Make a cupcake, make a memory!  Space is limited. Registration required. Please call ext 798-7880 ext. 2 to register.

Girls to the Front: Zine Making Workshop

Learn how to make an alternative publication! No prior experience needed! Teens encouraged! Free and open to the public. Participants will contribute to a D.I.Y. magazine that will be distributed at the Nickelodeon Theatre during its film series “Girls to the Front.” Work with designers and writers to learn how to make an affordable, inventive magazine. Everyone who attends the workshop will design one page for a zine celebrating female and femme creativity and camaraderie. Get ready to contribute poetry, drawings, collage, song lyrics and more. “Girls to the Front” is co-presented by the Nickelodeon Theatre, Girls Rock Columbia, and Unsweetened: Voices from a Feminist South.
