Endangered Species Day

Discover simple ways to protect some of the world’s most vulnerable animals and their natural habitats. Guests are invited to participate in fun, educational adventures focusing on wildlife conservation.

Hands on Art

Teen Gaming Hour

Kid’s CrafterNoon

Stitch by Stitch

Want to test your Maker skills? We’re bringing out our sewing machines and learning the basics one stitch at a time. Age Group(s): 13 – 18, Programs for Teens.

Kick It Karate

Kick it Karate is a free specialized karate class for all kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This SC Developmental Disabilities Council program takes place at Capital Karate in Rosewood every Saturday morning (pending holidays and cancellations due to weather).

Qualified and certified karate instructors take time to help those with special needs develop confidence and basic karate moves. There are three age groups:

  • Ages 3-6 class from 9.15-9.45 am
  • Ages 7-12 class from 10-10:30 am
  • Ages 13+ class from 10.45-11.15 am

Mini Maker Faire

Columbia Mini Maker Faire, an all-ages festival of DIY tech enthusiasts, crafters, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers and artists, will be held at EdVenture. Columbia’s Mini Maker Faire will give local “makers” an opportunity to share their talent and inspire others to explore their inner inventor.

Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, the Columbia Mini Maker Faire is a localized version of the national Maker Faire which host 90,000 visitors in San Mateo each year.

In its simplest form, Maker Faire creates conversations with Makers. It is a show-and-tell for people of all ages and is a community-based learning event that inspires everyone to become a maker and connect to people and projects in their local community.

This one-day, family-friendly festival will feature performances, workshops, and many hands-on projects and activities for adults and kids of all ages to explore what they can make.

LEAP: Romp & Rhyme Babytime

Literacy, Enrichment and Play (LEAP) is an interactive program for babies and their caregivers that uses books, rhymes, games, fingerplays and songs to encourage literacy through learning. For more information, call 785-2630. (ages birth – 18 months)

Kids Club®

They make; you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a fun project. Sign up online or just drop in. $2 per project, supplies included. Parent or guardian must remain on premises during the event.

Mother Daughter Paint & Tea

Grandmothers, Mothers, and Daughters will be able to enjoy a girl’s day painting, drinking tea and eating finger foods. Space is limited Tickets must be purchased in advance. Register by Wed., May 16. All Ages $45/Couple Seven Oaks Park $20/Additional Person

Columbia Mini Maker Faire

Interested in STEAM? Love discovering how and why things work? Come explore circuitry while creating a beautiful LED origami light. Led by students from Richland Institute of Innovation (R2i2). For ages 12-18.

Time: 10 a.m. – noon

Touch-A-Truck

Bring your family out to see trucks, tractors and more at this community event. Children will get hands on experience with large commercial vehicles and talk to the people who operate them. All Ages. No Fee.

Forest Acres Festival

This festival is FREE and will be full of fantastic family fun! FREE admission • FREE amusement rides • FREE petting zoo • FREE pony rides!!! AND find animal mascots, face painting, games for small children, arts and crafts, community performers, live music and DJ Irv! 👉 Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Fancy Nancy and the Wedding of the Century Storytime

Join us for Storytime and activities in celebration of the Royal Wedding. In this wonderful book about weddings big and small, Fancy Nancy helps out the bride and attends a fabulous party.

Beauty and the Beast

A vain Prince learns a valuable lesson when he is turned into a hulking Beast for his selfish behavior. It will take a young woman named Beauty to teach him the error of his ways. CMT’s adaptation has  both drama and comedy, and features detailed marionettes and rod puppets.

The Market Spring Festival

Celebrate Spring in South Carolina with this fun festival at the SC State Farmer’s Market, hosted by The Market Tea Room. Enjoy live music, children’s entertainment, and educational experiences.
