Personally, I think there’s nothing better than fresh fruit and veggies straight off the farm. Since I am completely inept at growing my own produce, it’s a relief to know there are farms locally that do all the hard work for me. I can just take the children and enjoy the fruits of their labor … literally.
In May we enjoyed several pounds of fresh strawberries. SOME places have strawberries still, but now is the season for blueberries, peaches, and other yummy summer fruits and veggies.
Just recently we went blueberry picking. This is the perfect time for them! They are big, juicy, and sweet. I now have a freezer full of blueberries for my smoothie addiction. Or muffins. Or blueberry pancakes.
So by this point, you should be thinking: how do I get a piece of that action?
I’ve compiled a list of local farms in and around Lexington and Richland counties, but there are farms all over South Carolina. Be sure to visit Pick Your Own – South Carolina for a complete listing of places all over the state to gather your own produce.
Tip: Always call or visit the farm’s website to confirm information before you go. They may close for the season, run out of a certain item or change their open and closing times. Nothing is worse than planning a fun trip for the family only to find things aren’t as you expected when you arrive (or worse, not open at all so you have to turn around and drive home empty-handed).

Thanks for letting us know! We couldn’t find updated information about them, but now that we know they are closed, we will remove them from our list.
You need to add Mointain View Farm Blueberries in Batesburg. They are on Facebook.
Thanks! Adding them now!
