Easy DIY South Carolina Wall Art

state wall printsOne of my favorite things to do is to stroll through stores like Home Goods and World Market. My guilty pleasure is buying things for my home. Now that my husband and I are trying to conceive, this naturally translates to trying to save money.

In an effort to tighten up my budget while decorating my still-new home, I decided to be crafty. I love the different state art prints you can find on sites like Etsy so I attempted to create my own! I’m very pleased with how it turned out. It is so easy, you can even have your children help you.

All you will need is:

  • Cut out of your state
  • Scrapbook paper of your choice
  • Picture frame (I got mine at Michaels – buy one get one free!)
  • White scrapbook paper for backing
  • Scissors
  • Maybe 30 minutes of your time (a little longer if your kids are helping!)

Directions:

Take the cut out of your state and trace around the back of your scrapbook paper (but make sure it’ll be the right way once you cut it out — and not backwards like my first attempt). I just taped my cut out to the back of the scrapbook paper and that was pretty simple!

Once you’re done with this, make sure the white backing is the correct size for your frame. Cut it if you need to make adjustments. You can tape, glue or wing it with placing the state on the paper.  I just placed mine in the right position without using tape or glue because, well, I’m lazy.
